The Social Work Dictionary defines adoption as â€Å"accepting and treating a child legally as though born into the family,† (Barker, 2003). When looking into adoption, the unique needs of each individual child is taken into consideration as each child is different. Most children came from orphanages due to parents not being financially stable or due to having no parents caused by death or neglect. Lion In Winter Essay Example For Students

Lion In Winter Essay Manipulation in WinterLion in Winter is the chess game as portrayed in Becket. There are kings and queens, but the most important ones are the pawns. The pawns are what makes this story grow. Everyone in this story is playing their own chess game for their own reasons. The most dangerous ones are the one that have nothing to lose. Everyone is hungry for power: Henry, Eleanor, Richard, John, Geoffrey, and Phillip. This thirst for power all started when Henry III, the rightful heir, died. In a normal setting, the next in line should receive the kingdom, but this is not a normal family. So, everyone vying for the throne will use manipulation to get what they want. In Lion in Winter, there are many ultimatums, ulterior motives, and broken promises which equal out to manipulation. Alice is King Phillips of Frances sister. She was betrothed to Henry III, so whomever marries her gets the kingdom. Phillip wants her to get married or he wants his dowry back. Alice is used as a pawn to see whom inherits the thrown. Eleanor wants her son, Richard to be king, but she mostly wants to hurt Henry. The way to hurt Henry is to see that John does not get the thrown and to see to it that she has the Aquitaine province. Those who know Richard know that the way to get at him is to tell them how much they love him. Eleanor calls for Richard in her bedroom and he is curious about her true intentions. She says that she merely wants a reunion. He listens, but knows how deceitful she is and he says, We could tangle spiders in the webs you weave.Nobody ever knows when Henry is being sincere. When your opponent uses sincerity, thats when it gets awfully confusing. John, Henrys favorite son, does not even know when he is merely acting. So, when Henry announces that Richard is going t o be the new heir, he is playing with Johns emotions. Geoffrey is always looking for a chance to come in. He does not care if he is the last resort, he just wants to be king. Geoffrey drops as Johns chancellor because he wants to be on the winning side (at least thats what he says). He is always thinking about himself and ways to get his foot in the door. He even told his mother that he would walk John into the trap that his mother sets. But that would only be true if he could have something to gain. However, people can see right through Geoffrey and they know exactly what he wants and what he will do to get it. Eleanor even says that he will sell everyone out and he admits to it. Eleanor pleases him for the time being because she knows that he is mostly harmless and has no chance of becoming king. Once again Eleanor uses love on Richard. She talks about how she taught him this and that and she even went as far as mutilating herself to supposedly prove how much she loved him. However, it is revealed in later scenes that she merely wanted the Aquitaine just so she could raise the stakes with Henry. Phillip wants Geoffrey to be king in the chess scene. Later on, it is revealed that he merely wants to hurt Henry for what he did to Louie. Geoffrey manipulates John into thinking that John is in control, when he is setting up John just to incriminate him. Geoffrey just wants to get Johns hands dirty so he can show it to his father and make Henry love Geoffrey more. .u855e9c8110df387b7a70180fd804c5df , .u855e9c8110df387b7a70180fd804c5df .postImageUrl , .u855e9c8110df387b7a70180fd804c5df .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u855e9c8110df387b7a70180fd804c5df , .u855e9c8110df387b7a70180fd804c5df:hover , .u855e9c8110df387b7a70180fd804c5df:visited , .u855e9c8110df387b7a70180fd804c5df:active { border:0!important; } .u855e9c8110df387b7a70180fd804c5df .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u855e9c8110df387b7a70180fd804c5df { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u855e9c8110df387b7a70180fd804c5df:active , .u855e9c8110df387b7a70180fd804c5df:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u855e9c8110df387b7a70180fd804c5df .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u855e9c8110df387b7a70180fd804c5df .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u855e9c8110df387b7a70180fd804c5df .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u855e9c8110df387b7a70180fd804c5df .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u855e9c8110df387b7a70180fd804c5df:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u855e9c8110df387b7a70180fd804c5df .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u855e9c8110df387b7a70180fd804c5df .u855e9c8110df387b7a70180fd804c5df-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u855e9c8110df387b7a70180fd804c5df:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Moving Ahead Despites Failure EssayHenry only promised Richard the throne to get the Aquitaine for John. Justify a particular installation or upgrade Essay Example

Justify a particular installation or upgrade Essay I have installed a Microsoft Visio because the user needed software that will allow him to design the layout of rooms, by using vector graphics. Using this software the user can design and build his room exactly how he wants. You can also design and organize a computer network in that room that you have designed earlier. It also allows you to make a hierarchy diagram which can be used to show what work is more imported and which one is less. I have been asked to install Microsoft Visio in Harvard University so that the IT technicians can design classrooms with computers, using this software will allow them to see what is the best way to place the computers and how to save as much of space as possible. Microsoft Visio will allow the university to see what the class will look like before the work takes place.I have upgraded to AVG 9.0 because it has more features then the previous version. This are:Identity Protection- It protects your computer when banking or shopping online by improv ing your current anti-virus software by shielding your passwords, credit card numbers, and all other private information from hackers.Webshield- Provides you to safe social networking, chatting and downloading. It protects your computer when you download or exchange files from the risk of virus infection.Anti-Spam- Provides you safe and clear emails. AVG Anti-Spam often updates its database for detecting all forms of spam.Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware- protects you from getting or spreading a virus, worm, or Trojan horse. It also prevents the unauthorized access of information from both spyware and adware.Enhanced Firewall- Helps you block the hackers. It protects your computer form any one trying to access it without authorization.I have also done a system restore, this allows you to go back to a recovery point that you have made earlier. This is very useful when you install new software that doesnt work correctly and cause your computer to crash or freeze. When this happens system r estore will allow you to go back to a recovery point that you made before installing the new software. Your computer is also able to automatically create restore checkpoints. It will do it by itself and depending on how often you use your computer will depend on how many checkpoints your computer does. These checkpoints will be stored in a calendar which will allow you to quickly locate the checkpoint you are looking for.I have created system restore so when I install new software or upgrade software and the software will not work properly then I can go back to a restore point that I have created. Using recovery point I will not lose any data that I had before the installation or upgrade of the software.I have planed my installation and upgrade because it will help me prepare and prevent any problems that may occur during the installation or upgrade . You need to make sure that the system requirements of your computer meet the needs this will save you time if you do this before inst alling or upgrading us you will not have to uninstall. When you plan you need to know what the users wants, this will prevent from installing the wrong software that is not needed by the user. You need to know if the installation or upgrade is required this will prevent from installing 2 of the same software. Also you need to collect all the material and instruction need for the installation or upgrade this will prevent from you wasting your time looking for things like installation CD or product key if you have them ready before you do the installation. You also need to plan the suitable time to do the installation this will prevent you from disturbing the users work. You also plan the risk reduction measures this will prevent from any data lose in case something goes wrong.D2: Evaluate the risks involved in the installation or upgrade of software and explain how the risk could be minimised. When you upgrade or install new software the data that you have may be lost. This could be b ecause when the software is upgrade the old version is deleted and the data connected to the software may be deleted as well. For example when you upgrade your operating system from Microsoft Windows XP to Microsoft Windows 7.To minimise the risk of losing data you need to make backups. You can backup your data on flash disks, CDs and any other memorable devices. To back up you simply copy the data on you memorable device and put it in a save place. Also you could make a restore point but this will cause your software or upgrade to be deleted. In some cases when the installation or upgrade is made the computer may not be used them for a company may lose income because it cant use the computers. For example when you upgrade your operating system from Microsoft Windows XP to Microsoft Windows 7.The best way to minimise this risk is to do the installation or the upgrade outside of working hours of the company. This way you will not disturber any ones work. If you are installing or upgra ding on many computers then you could install on one computer at a time, this way the other computers could be used and the company will not lose as much income us they would if all the computers were not functional. The new version may be unstable on the users computer, it may cause problems such us crashing or freezing the computer. This happens when the new software is not prepared for that type of computer in this cases the manufacture tries to work out whats wrong with the software and makes software patches that should fix the problem. For example in computer games like Fallout 3 a lot of computers had problem with that game and the manufacture very quickly made patches which resolved the problems. To minimise the risk of unstable software you have to check if it has bugs, if that is the case then you have to connect the manufacture and get a patch for the software that will fix the problem. The user may be used to the old version of the software the for he or she may not like th e new software or it may be too difficult to operate the new version. This could happen if the different between the old version and the new version is very big. For example Microsoft Office 2003 has a much different layout then Microsoft Office 2007 the for some people may have complications in finding the tools ect. in the newer version. To minimise this risk you need to know what the user wants. If he or she has problems with operating the new version then you could give them training. You could also give a presentation to the user and tell him or her what better features the new version has and how it can improve the users work. The software that the user wants to upgrade or install may not work on the computer that the user is using, this can be because the hardware may be incompatible with the software. For example game like Dragon Age: Origins has very high system requirements and some hardware may not be able to open the game for example graphic card.To minimise the risk of in compatible hardware with the new software you should check the system requirements before you install or upgrade. If the system is not compatible with the requirements you will have to upgrade the hardware of your computer so it will meet the requirements. If you cant upgrade the hardware then you will have to look for different software with lower requirements

According to CRC- Healthcare Factbook Essays

According to CRC- Healthcare Factbook Essays According to CRC- Healthcare Factbook Paper According to CRC- Healthcare Factbook Paper Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.† –World Health Organization This is the most common definition of health today. But, are people really achieving the ideal heath today. According to CRC- Healthcare Factbook (1990) the health care delivery system is the totality of all policies infrastructures, facilities, equipment, products, human resources, and services that address the health needs, problems and concerns of all people. Both public and private sectors maintain their own health facilities (such as hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centers). Preventive health care is a major concern of the government-owned health centers while curative care is provided by hospitals, both government and private. The health of individuals and communities are, to a large extent, affected by combination of many factors. A person’s health is determined by his circumstances and environment. It is inappropriate therefore to blame or credit the person’s state of health to himself alone because he is unlikely able to directly control many of these factors however, knowledge of these factors is important in order to effectively promote health and prevent illness. It is also important to note that in understanding the multidimensional nature of health, the public health nurse will now be in better position to plan and implement health promoting interventions for individuals and communities.

Helen Keller who has had a significant influence on me Essay

Helen Keller who has had a significant influence on me - Essay Example To this very day, I can still remember how Keller struggled to find a way to overcome her disabilities. Her perseverance and passion truly touched me. I never thought that after another five years since kindergarten, I would be here in the United States, Helen Keller’s homeland. The first sight of the blue, cloudless sky was exhilarating. I am lucky, I thought to myself. This is the land of freedom and opportunity. However, I had not expected the difficulties that were lying ahead of me. My years in elementary and middle school were not so much enjoyable. I often had to take out my pocket-sized dictionary to grasp the meaning of unfamiliar words. Then people often made fun out of me. It was like trying to walk blindly in the dark. My parents on the other hand were very busy trying to make a living while I had to endure the harsh reality on my own. When people talked, I could not understand what they were saying. When I needed something, I could not open my mouth to ask simply because I did not know any English. Periodically, I borrowed short stories and interesting fictions to read so that I could improve my English skills. During that time, I could barely read a single page without spending more than ten minutes on it, trying to figure out each word I did not understand. I knew it would be extremely tedious to finish all the books, but in order to be successful, I had to master all these English phrases and words. Whenever I got bored and lost inspiration, I thought of Helen Keller and how she overcame her difficulties. I would keep going, no matter what it took to finish the book I would be reading. Seven years have passed since my journey to the U.S. Currently, I am enrolled at Stuyvesant High School, one of the most prestigious high schools in the United States. I am grateful that the individual who has had the single highest degree of influence on me is Helen Keller. I realize that I could never be where I am today had it not been
